Local independent Estate Agency, The Property Centre, concluded their charitable work in 2016 by announcing they raised an impressive £7,376.80 for National Star, the Cheltenham-based charity.
Founded in 1967, National Star’s aims have remained simple: to give people with disabilities the support, skills and opportunities they need to be prepared for the best that life can offer. The money raised by the team from The Property Centre will allow National Star to continue its life-changing work.
The first major fundraising event of the year took place in March when a team of four completed the Cardiff Half-Marathon. The awesome foursome smashed their £800 goal, raising over £1,000!
In June, a team of 13 employees from The Property Centre set out to conquer the National Three Peaks Challenge.
The UK’s most popular mountain challenge, this involved climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344 metres), Scafell Pike in England (978 metres) and Snowdon in Wales (1085 metres) - all within 24 hours!
Branch Manager, Alex Diett, who led the successful challenge said, “Throughout the 24 hours, our team had to overcome physical fatigue and battle against unpredictable weather conditions. In total we ascended a total of 3500m and raised a staggering £5,185.97 – which made all the blisters worthwhile!”
The Property Centre will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017 and plans to do 20 things for charity to mark the occasion. Following on from their success with the National Three Peaks, the staff have set themselves an even bigger task for 2017 – to complete the Cotswold Way Challenge by walking 100 km from Bath to Cheltenham in just 36 hours.
